SAO PAULO, May 13 (Reuters) - Brazil s sugar exports in the 2025/26 season could remain virtually stable compared to the previous strong cycle, with mills allocating more sugarcane to producing sugar, JOB Economics and Planning said on Tuesday.
The forecast for Brazil s sugar exports sees a repeat of the 2024/25 (season) of 35.1 million metric tons. This volume represents more than half of global sugar exports and gives Brazil the conditions to influence prices on international markets, JOB s managing partner Julio Maria Borges said in a report seen by Reuters.
Brazilian sugar exports have hovered around record levels over the past two years, according to data from industry group UNICA. They reached an all time high of 35.4 million tons in the 2023/24 season, Borges said.
Brazil s 2025/26 sugar production is also seen growing 5% to 46 million tons versus the previous cycle, close to the 2023/24 record of 46.1 million tons, Borges said.
However, the increase will come from more sugarcane being used to make the sweetener, even as the harvest for the raw material is expected to drop 1.45% to 673 million tons, the report added.
